Let’s get into this three-day holiday! Arrival was in North Virginia and from there the traveling began. First stop was the Navy Yard. This is where the Hotel-Residence Inn Washington Capitol Hill-was located. It was a beautiful experience as the area is being updated-definitely recommend. I was able to travel by foot to Whole Foods, many high-end restaurants, there were moderately-$$-priced restaurants too. At the time of my visit the Navy vs. Army Football game occurred, so many people at my hotel were there for the event.
Any who, this was a weekend trip and there were lots to see. I dropped off my things at the hotel and hit the Metro. DC Metro runs all-night, so I was up ’til 2am traveling between Virginia and Washington. Of course, my number one stop was the monumental sites, museums and food trucks, which was an all-day event. I also got to see a dead rat on the sidewalk-just nasty! I got as close as I could to the White House, but the views are better from the Washington Monument. This was a winter trip so, it was not as populated as during the summer, so I was able to take some good photos.
Later that night, we rode the Metro to Tyson’s Corner Centre Mall in VA and I ate until I could not eat anymore, then rolled myself back onto the subway to head to the hotel. The culture in the area is diverse, so when it was time to eat, I had some GOODT authentic food right on the spot and for a decent price. Next day, I hit the Amtrak Union Station-ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!

Definitely did not feel like a regular train station. Plenty of food choices and places to shop and I had some of the best pizza here. Sbarro. cough. cough. Man, I watched them make that pizza by hand before leaving for Baltimore and got some when I got back!!! We headed to Baltimore and of course we ate, explored the Inner Harbor and its surrounding buildings then got back on the train. Before home the next day, I of course, jumped on the metro and headed to see Howard University. I would have loved to visit Philly and New York, there’s always next time!
